If you’re wondering how to record your screen on an iPhone or iPad, follow this simple guide to get started in just a few easy steps.

Step 1: Enable Screen Recording in Control Center

Before you can start recording your screen, you need to ensure that the Screen Recording feature is added to your Control Center.

The Control Center is the menu that you can access by swiping down from the upper-right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom on older devices) to quickly access essential features.

Here’s how to enable Screen Recording in the Control Center:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down and tap Control Center.
  3. Tap Customize Controls (or just Control Center on newer devices).
  4. Under the “More Controls” section, look for Screen Recording and tap the green “+” icon next to it. This adds Screen Recording to your Control Center.

Now that you’ve enabled Screen Recording, you can easily access it from the Control Center.

Step 2: Start Recording Your Screen

Once you’ve added the Screen Recording function to the Control Center, you’re ready to start recording. Follow these steps to capture what’s happening on your screen:

1. Open the Control Center:

  • On iPhone X or later, or iPads with iOS 12 or later: Swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen.
  • On iPhone 8 or earlier, or iPads with a Home button: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

2. Start the Recording:

  • Tap the Screen Recording icon, which looks like a filled-in circle inside a circle.
  • You’ll see a countdown from 3 seconds before the recording starts, giving you time to navigate to the screen or app you want to record.
  • A red bar or clock will appear at the top of the screen to indicate that recording is in progress.

Step 3: Record With or Without Audio

One of the great features of screen recording on iOS is the ability to capture audio as well. Whether you want to record your voice for a tutorial or capture in-app sounds, you can easily turn the microphone on or off before starting a recording.

To record with audio:

  1. Press and hold the Screen Recording icon in the Control Center for a couple of seconds. This will open additional options.
  2. Tap the Microphone icon to turn on audio recording. The microphone icon will turn red when it’s activated, meaning it will capture external audio (your voice or surrounding sounds) during the screen recording.
  3. After enabling the microphone, tap Start Recording, and your device will capture both video and sound.

If you only want to capture system sounds (like in-app sound effects or gameplay audio) and not external sounds, simply don’t turn on the microphone.

Step 4: Stop the Recording

Once you’ve recorded everything you need, stopping the screen recording is just as easy as starting it.

Here’s how to stop the recording:

  1. Tap the red status bar at the top of your screen (this appears during the recording process).
  2. A prompt will appear asking if you want to stop recording. Tap Stop to end the recording.

Alternatively, you can open the Control Center again and tap the Screen Recording icon to stop the recording.

Once you stop recording, your video will be saved to your Photos app automatically.

Step 5: View and Edit Your Recording

After your recording is saved, you can view and edit it right from the Photos app LiGames.net:

  1. Open the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Navigate to your Recents album, where the video will be saved.
  3. Tap the video to play it.

To edit the video:

  1. Tap Edit in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. You can trim the beginning or end of the video by dragging the handles at the bottom of the screen.
  3. When you’re happy with the changes, tap Done, and then select Save as New Clip or Save Video to overwrite the original.

This quick editing feature is perfect if you want to remove any extra footage at the start or end of your screen recording.

Additional Tips

  • Recording Limitations: Some apps, especially video streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, or Apple TV, will block screen recordings to prevent piracy. If you’re trying to record content from these apps, you’ll likely find that the screen appears black during playback.
  • Notifications: If you receive notifications while recording your screen, they will also be captured in the recording. To avoid interruptions, it’s a good idea to turn on Do Not Disturb mode before starting a screen recording.
  • Screen Recording for Tutorials: If you’re creating a tutorial, enabling the microphone allows you to narrate your actions as you demonstrate steps on your screen, making it easier for viewers to follow along.

Conclusion

Recording your screen on an iPhone or iPad is a simple process that can be incredibly useful for a variety of purposes, from creating how-to videos to capturing important gameplay moments.

By following these easy steps, you can start recording your screen with or without audio, edit the footage, and share it with others—all without the need for additional apps or complicated setups.

With this powerful built-in tool at your fingertips, you’ll be ready to capture and share any moment directly from your device.
